For decades, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has set the standard for luxury sedans. For 2027, Mercedes-Benz calls the latest update the most comprehensive in the model's history, with roughly 2,700 new or re-engineered components. At Mercedes-Benz of Fort Myers, we're excited to share what's changed. Here are three updates that make the 2027 S-Class worth a closer look.

The first change you'll notice is the front end. The grille is about 20 percent larger than before, and for the first time on an S-Class, it's illuminated. New twin-star headlights use micro-LED technology that is brighter and more efficient. Around back, each taillight features three LED star shapes that create a distinctive signature after dark. An optional illuminated Mercedes star hood ornament adds a final touch of drama.

These details give the S-Class a stunning presence, whether it's parked downtown or cruising along the Caloosahatchee in Fort Myers.

The MBUX Superscreen and a Smarter Operating System

Inside, the dashboard now features the MBUX Superscreen as standard. A single glass panel spans three displays, including a 12.3-inch driver display and a 14.4-inch central touchscreen. A 12.3-inch passenger screen lets your front passenger stream video or play games, while eye-tracking technology keeps the driver from being distracted.

The screens run on the latest Mercedes-Benz operating system, which uses AI for more natural voice conversations. Rear passengers can enjoy optional 13.1-inch entertainment screens, and heated seat belts add an unexpected touch of comfort.

A New V8 and Stronger Performance

The S 580 4MATIC now uses a new V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft. It produces 530 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. Mercedes-Benz estimates it can reach zero-to-60 mph in 3.9 seconds. The S 500 4MATIC uses a turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine with 443 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. Both models use a 48-volt mild hybrid system for smooth, efficient power delivery.

Air suspension and rear-axle steering come standard, making this large sedan feel surprisingly agile. Drivers heading south toward Bonita Springs will appreciate how composed it feels on the highway.
